We seek a Web Content Manager who will be responsible for improving and maintaining the organization's website to meet business goals. This person will lead the execution of internal and external day-to-day web initiatives, ensuring that all content is updated, accurate, and in alignment with the Council's brand standards.Reporting to the Deputy Director, Digital Marketing, the Web Content Manager will be responsible for maintaining the Atlantic Council's website, including managing SEO optimization plus third-party tools for integration and monitoring. Duties will include sharing content to raise brand awareness and monitoring web traffic and metrics to identify best practices. This individual will work with marketing strategists, web developers, and internal communication teams to measure content effectiveness (usage, adoption, and reach), brand awareness, lead generation, customer loyalty, and user engagement.This is a temporary-to-permanent role on a hybrid schedule (4 days per week in office) in our Washington, DC office. Pay is commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers from $45 to $65 per hour. This role is not eligible for benefits. At six months of employment, a full-time offer may be extended should work performance and deliverables align with expectations.   • Manage the Atlantic Council's WordPress CMS, working with developers and editors to ensure it meets the needs of the organization.
  • Conduct content audits to identify gaps and redundancies in the site content.
  • Produce maps and visualizations of the site to help staff understand the structure and function of the website.
  • Train Atlantic Council staff in producing content for the website.
  • Collaborate with marketing and creative teams (brand, style, layout, as well as web copywriting, journey, and experience); technical team to maintain site standards; external development team; and organizational stakeholders.
  • Use SEO tactics and CMS to maximize search rankings, optimize content, and analyze user engagement.
  • Create, edit, publish, update, and retire website content (including text, images, videos, and other web assets) working within our CMS, web platform, video platform, etc. Use content management systems to analyze website traffic and user engagement metrics.
  • Manage content distribution to online channels and social media platforms to increase web traffic.
  • Ensure legal compliance (e.g. copyright and data protection).
  • Stay up-to-date with developments and generate new ideas to draw the audience's attention.
  • Advise on effective methods for presenting content on the web and conduct content testing.
  • Track requests for web changes, updates, and new projects.
  • Manage publishing request intake process and timelines and follow up.
  • Roll out a strategy for managing publishing requests (e.g. office hours).
  • Evaluate current procedures and seek opportunities for editing.
  • Manage procedure document library and communication strategy for internal business partners.
  • Partner with business partners to develop public landing pages, utilizing interactive and engaging design elements and media.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for identifying, troubleshooting, and resolution of site performance issues.
  • Incorporate keywords and metadata into the content strategy to improve search engine optimization.
  • Coordinate content activation with paid media and social teams based on the campaign plan.
  • Keep up-to-date with competitor sites, content strategy innovations, best practices, tools, and techniques, and document best practices to share with the team.Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing, or relevant field.
    • 3-5 years experience managing content and production for high-traffic websites.
    • Proven knowledge of using a content management system to create, change, and update information on an institution's website.
    • Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics, and experience tracking and managing Web Analytics (e.g. Google Analytics 4).
    • Knowledge of UX/UI best practices and how to implement them, with experience working on a website redesign strongly preferred.
    • Proven knowledge in using research and analytics to support and evaluate web initiatives.
    • Poise and professionalism in managing multiple projects in a fluid, deadline-driven environment.
    • Logical and analytical: inclined to spot patterns, gaps, and repetitions in web content.
    • Ability to communicate confidently and clearly with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Hands-on experience with MS Office and WordPress.
    • Familiarity with social media.
    • Outstanding attention to detail, organizational, and time-management skills.
    • Excellent writing skills in English.
    • Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.
    • Solid customer service skills; ability to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
